FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know before your first F3 Bedrock workout.
What is F3 Bedrock?
F3 Bedrock is a free workout group for men in Roseville and Granite Bay, California. We're part of F3 Nation, a national network of free outdoor workouts. F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. Members take turns leading, and we're outside year round no matter the weather.
How much does F3 Bedrock cost?
Nothing. F3 Bedrock is free. No membership, no dues, no sign-up fee, and you'll never be asked to pay for a workout.
Where and when does F3 Bedrock meet?
We meet every day of the week at parks and schools around Roseville, Granite Bay, and Rocklin, California. Weekday workouts start at 5:15 AM, and weekend workouts are at 5:00 and 6:00 AM. The roads are empty and the parks are dark. Most mornings we're the only ones out there, and that's a big part of what makes it worth doing. Getting up is the hard part. By 6 AM you're done and the rest of the day is yours. Times and locations for all of them are on the Workouts page.
Do I need to sign up or register to attend?
No. There's no registration, account, or RSVP. Show up at any location at the posted time ready to work, and that's it.
Who can join F3 Bedrock?
Any man, any age, any fitness level. Guys who are just getting started work out right alongside guys who've been at it for years, and we don't leave anyone behind. All we ask is that you show up and give an honest effort.
What if I'm not in shape?
That's the whole point. Don't wait until you're in shape to come, because coming is how you get in shape. Plenty of our guys showed up well overweight or hadn't trained in years, and they've lost a lot of weight just by keeping at it. Nobody gets turned away for being new or slow, and we don't leave anyone behind. Do what you can.
Is F3 Bedrock a religious or Christian group?
No. F3 Bedrock isn't a religious group and isn't hosted by or affiliated with any church. A lot of our members are Christian, but F3 is open to men of all faiths and no faith. The third F, Faith, means a belief in something bigger than yourself. Mostly it shows up in how we take care of our families, our community, and each other. We care more about the presence of faith than the object of it.
What kinds of workouts does F3 Bedrock offer?
Three kinds. Bootcamps, which mix bodyweight strength with cardio. Running workouts. And rucking, which is walking or hiking with a weighted pack. Everything happens outdoors around Roseville and Granite Bay.
Is F3 Bedrock like CrossFit?
In a lot of ways, yes. Much of it is high-intensity interval training using the same movements you'd see in a CrossFit box. The differences are that it's outdoors, other members lead it instead of paid coaches, we do more partner work, and there's nothing to pay. If you want a free alternative to CrossFit around Roseville or Granite Bay, this is it.
Is there a free running group in Roseville or Granite Bay?
Yes, several days a week. Pinnacle runs Mondays and Rattlesnake Ridge runs Wednesdays, both in Roseville. Trailhead is a Saturday trail run at Folsom Lake that starts from Cavitt Junior High in Granite Bay. They're free and they're early, and nobody cares how fast you are.
Is F3 Bedrock a free alternative to a gym or personal trainer?
Yes. It's a free fitness and training group for men, with no membership, trainer fees, or class costs. Members coach each other, so the guys who've been doing this a while will fix your form and walk you through movements you haven't done before. None of them are paid professionals. But they'll notice when you skip, and they'll push you, which is most of what you're paying a trainer for anyway.
What does F3 Bedrock offer that a gym doesn't?
The difference is the guys. A gym is a room with equipment in it. Here you work out with the same men week after week, and they notice when you're not there, which keeps you coming back long after motivation runs out. Most guys our age don't make new friends easily, and that's most of why this works. These are men trying to be better husbands and fathers and not fall apart at 45, all pulling in the same direction. You'll end up leading workouts and pushing other guys too, which does more for you than you'd expect. And it happens outside, early, when the parks are empty. Nobody's waiting on a machine and there's no TV blaring at you. It's free.
What are some cheap gyms in East Roseville and Granite Bay?
The cheap ones around East Roseville and Granite Bay are Planet Fitness in Roseville, Crunch Fitness in Granite Bay, 24 Hour Fitness, and In-Shape Health Clubs. Worth a look before you sign anything, though: F3 Bedrock costs nothing at all. We're outside early when the parks are empty, and you get the same group of guys to train with instead of working out alone next to strangers.
What should I expect at my first workout?
Get there five or ten minutes early so you have time to find the group. Workouts start on time, run about 45 minutes, and are led by one of the members. Expect to be challenged, expect more cardio than you're used to, and expect to be encouraged, probably more than you think you deserve.
What should I bring to my first workout?
Running shoes, shorts, a t-shirt, and a good attitude. Gloves if you want them.
What does F3 stand for?
F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. The mission of F3 is to plant, grow, and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
Where can I find a free men's workout group near me in Roseville, California?
F3 Bedrock holds free men's workouts every day of the week at parks and schools around Roseville, Granite Bay, and Rocklin, California. Pick whichever one is closest and show up. No cost, no registration, any fitness level.
